Klang introduces smart way to pay for parking

KLANG: Parking payment in the royal town will be made easier from next month onwards, with the introduction of a mobile parking payment app by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).
Council president Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin said the mobile app, Smart Parking MPKlang, will provide motorists with a hassle-free parking payment system that will mean they need not worry if they have overpaid or underpaid for their parking.
Motorists can also opt to continue using the existing coupon system.
"Once the motorists have registered their vehicle numbers into the system and reload certain value into the app, parking payment can be made instantly via the app," Mohamad Yasid said during the launch of the app at the council headquarters earlier today.
"Apart from making parking payment, the app will sent some notification to the users on their parking period coming to an end. If they wish to extend, they can just do it easily through the app without having to go back to their vehicle."
Mohamad Yasid added that users do not need to worry about getting any compound or summons from the council enforcement officers for not displaying any parking coupons, as the app has been integrated with their smart phones.
"The phone will enable the officers to know if any parking payment has been made for that particular vehicle through the Smart Parking MPKlang app," he said.
He said more features are to be added to the app in the future.
