KUALA LUMPUR: The police never closed their investigation into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the case has been ongoing, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
He said the police would work with all quarters, including the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in the matter.
"We will investigate under three Acts, namely the Penal Code, Companies Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act," he said at a press conference after handing over Aidilfitri goodies for the police at Bukit Aman here today.
Asked to comment on the request by Umno acting president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for the police to return to Umno the so-called party funds seized at the residence of former prime minister and former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, Mohamad Fuzi said the money would have to be claimed in accordance with the process and provisions of the law.
"The investigation is ongoing and we need time to work out the method of applying to claim the money," he said. — Bernama
