Shahidan rude to ruler, says PAS Perlis

KANGAR: Perlis PAS has slammed the state Umno liaison chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (pix) for undermining the decision of the Perlis Ruler in appointing Bintong assemblyperson Datuk Seri Azlan Man as the mentri besar.
In a statement, its state commissioner Mohd Shukri Ramli, who is the Sanglang assemblyperson, said Shahidan has disrespected the royal institution and the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Syed Jamalullail.
Shukri said Shahidan was rude to the palace. "To find an amicable solution and one which is just, PAS hopes that all sides do not become emotional and have faith that the palace will find a solution," he added.
PAS will stand with the state Ruler in placing priority on the well-being of the people and the state, said Shukri.
"The party is also ready for a snap state election if Perlis Barisan Nasional continues to insist on its choice of mentri besar," he added.
Shahidan had proposed to Umno to sack Azlan for accepting his appointment as the mentri besar, saying he did not command the support from the majority of the state legislative assembly backbenches.
Shahidan's brother Datuk Ismail Kassim, who is the Tambun Tulang assemblyperson, said in a show of good faith, he does not wish to be nominated as the mentri besar and there are eight others to choose from.
In the last general election, Perlis BN won 10 of the 15 state seats and two out of the three parliamentary seats.
