FMTA to align with new direction of HR Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malaysian Training Providers and Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) Associations (FMTA) has affirmed it will align its efforts with the new direction of the Human Resource Ministry and its agencies in developing Malaysia's talent to the global level.
Its president, R.A. Thiagaraja, said the federation, whose members were experts in the Human Capital Development industry, always looked for ways to maintain a high standard of deliverables.
"FMTA members collectively have a great reach to support the nation's human capital development and, to date, there are 3,650 training providers registered with the Human Resource Development Fund, 599 training providers in the Department of Skills Development, and 599 (repeat 599) in the Skills Development Fund Corporation.
"We ensure that all training and TVET providers meet the required criterion of the ministry and its agencies to ensure that we deliver competent a workforce for nation-building and transformation," he said in a statement here today.
While congratulating the newly-appointed Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran (pix), Thiagaraja highlighted the federation's aspirations for the human capital industry, including to have more guidance, support and financial assistance from the ministry to train trainers.
He said the federation also hoped to have more funds to be allocated for private training and TVET institutions since each year a major portion of the industry's budgeted allocation was usually channelled back to the government training and TVET institutions compared to the private ones.
"Studies reveal that training programmes run by private institutions are far more affordable as compared to the rates at public institutions. Most of the private institutions are ever ready with investments of necessary technology, software and skilled trainers to run the programmes," he said. — Bernama
