Perak offers 70% discount on parking compounds

IPOH: The Perak government is offering a 70% discount on all parking compounds issued by the 15 local councils in the state for a month from May 28.
Housing, Local Government, Public Transportation, Non-Muslim Affairs and New Villages Committee chairman Yong Choo Kiong said the people should make use of the opportunity to settle the arrears in compounds as the discount was "very high".
He spoke to reporters after a meeting with the presidents of the 15 local councils at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan, here today.
Yong also said that the state government had agreed to use a common coupon for parking fees in the state from Jan 1 next year.
"The people need no longer purchase different coupons in different local council areas. It will facilitate the people," he said.
Yong, who is the state assemblyman for Tronoh, also said that every local council would organise a meet-the-people programme twice a month to get to know the people's problems.
"We will have these meetings in the middle and at the end of the month to understand the people's problems as well as to monitor and supervise approved projects," he added. — Bernama
