PETALING JAYA: Three politicians have lent their support for the move by Malaysians to contribute to a fund to help pay for the national debt of RM1 trillion.
Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming today pledged his first month's salary of RM16,000 to the Finance Ministry to help cut down the massive debt incurred by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
Batu Gajah MP V. Sivakumar and Ipoh Timur MP Wong Kah Woh have also pledged to donate half of their first month's salary of RM8,000 to the ministry.
"A few days ago, the nation was left in shock after the finance ministry released a statement on the national debt which has reached RM1.08 trillion," Nga said at the DAP headquarters in Ipoh.
"The new Pakatan Harapan government inherited a heavy burden to settle this debt. So, as my part in helping the country, I'm donating my first month's salary as a sign of solidarity and patriotism," he said.
