KUALA LUMPUR: The leadership tussle in MyPPP continues with the party president Tan Sri M. Kayveas holding an open door Annual General Assembly (AGM) to explain to members why his sacking was illegal.
He said it was a conspiracy by more than 13 supreme council members to remove from his post and appoint Datuk Seri Maglin D'Cruz as the president.
He said the AGM that was organised on Saturday was null and void as they had no right to hold it.
He also pointed out that the group organising the AGM were denied a police permit but the police allowed them to go ahead with it and pleaded with him not to disrupt it.
"We did not attempt to stop the other side from carrying out the AGM but on Saturday one of them lodged a police report and demanded that the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall stop him from holding today's AGM at their premises.
"The management is used to such actions and ignored the demand that was made," he told reporters after the end of the AGM today.
Kayveas said the other side was trying to hoodwink not only MyPPP members but also the media by claiming they had got verbal approval to hold the AGM.
He said how can they hold an AGM when the Registrar of Society (RoS) has recognised him as president in an official letter, therefore only he has the right to call for one.
He said the party has sacked 13 members who were involved in Saturday's AGM and they will officially sending a letter to the RoS about the termination of their party membership.
Present at the AGM held by Kayveas was Institutional Reforms Committee member and National Patriots Association president Brig Jen (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji.
On his sacking, Kayveas reiterated that only when a member makes a complain that action can be taken, how the other side decided to act based on a letter from Barisan Nasional secretary general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor was beyond comprehension.
He said if those involved were so desperate to become MyPPP president, they should have approached him and they could have discussed it and he would have willingly step aside.
He said but the actions they have taken had forced him to retaliate and he has lodged a number of police reports against.
He also showed CCTV footage allegedly showing that Maglin's faction had broken into the party headquarters and wrecked the property.
He said they had removed cheque books, his degree certificates and also his passport, which was illegal for them to do so.
He added that due to their actions he had no access to funds and had to borrow from friends for his day to day expenses.
