NIBONG TEBAL: More than 1,000 buyers of the Taman Halaman Indah housing project, Jawi here are relieved because they will be moving into their homes soon after a six-year delay.
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) would conduct its final inspection on May 31 on the project before the Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (CF) would be issued, before subsequently handing over the key to the buyers.
"This project has been delayed for so long. The buyers are concerned about the situation. God willing, after discussions with the developer and purchasers, MPSP will make the final inspection on May 31, then they will get the CF and the keys," he told reporters here today.
Earlier, Zuraida had a two-hour discussion with the developer and representatives of the buyers to resolve several issues arising.
The Taman Halaman Indah housing project has 1,138 units of terrace houses, including 460 low-cost units and 70 commercial units priced between RM42,000 and RM250,000.
The project, which was supposed to be completed in 2012, was delayed due to several issues including a change of developers, land and financial problems.
Zuraida said in the discussion the developers also agreed to pay a late handing over penalty to the buyers.
He said 170 applications for low-cost houses in the projects were approved while the qualifications of the remaining 290 applications would be screened.
"We will also exempt legal fees to facilitate in making their final payment, stamp duty and so on. They will get their keys after all these are settled," he said. — Bernama
