Preparations underway for Wesak Day

GEORGE TOWN: Volunteers are busy adding the final touches at Buddhist temples in the state in preparation for Wesak day.
At the Wat Chaiya Mangalaram temple in Burmah Lane, volunteers were busy placing candles in the shape of lotus flowers at the altar.
While devotees have already started to throng the famous Siamese temple situated opposite the Burmese temple ahead of the celebration tomorrow.
Temple workers were also spotted busy cleaning up the Sleeping Buddha statue, a huge draw for foreign tourists.
A temple spokesperson said many devotees are expected to come to the temple tonight to offer their prayers.
She also said a grand procession will take place at the Malaysian Buddhist Association (MBA) in Jalan Burma at 7pm tomorrow.
