JITRA: "That is probably his personal view and we have ours," Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said on PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli statement that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was not the factor behind Pakatan Harapan (PH) winning in the 14th General Election (GE-14), on May 9.
Mukhriz said Rafizi should not question the winning factor but instead accept the fact that victory was achieved and several states have formed the government.
"We feel that the question over the winning factor should no longer arise as the results are already known and the government has been formed. As such, it is not necessary to bring up these issues.
"It is inappropriate to say such things, now that the politicians are enjoying warm and cordial relations so it is best not to create a rift between the four parties including Parti Warisan Sabah," he told reporters at a at an "Ihya Ramadan" programme to hand over contribution to the Kubang Pasu district mosques here today.
Meanwhile in KUALA TERENGGANU, state Bersatu chairman Datuk Razali Idris urged all parties to stop discrediting others but concentrate on efforts in rebuilding the nation as pledged by the PH government.
He said at the moment, the people wanted to see that the leaders of the component parties could work with integrity, cooperate, maintain unity and as such it was not the time to discredit or belittle others who had contributed to the success of PH in GE14.
"Rafizi must remember that the people dared to change after seeing the strong coalition in PH led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God) with the formula developed by him, we succeeded in GE14," he said in a statement here today.
Earlier the Malaysia Insight portal reported that the popularity of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was not the winning factor for PH in the GE14. Instead, it was the rising cost of living and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which had resulted in PH success in defeating the Barisan Nasional (BN).
The former Pandan MP said that the matter was proven based on a post-GE-14 survey conducted by Invoke Malaysia, which found that voters were more affected by these two issues compared to loyalty to Tun Dr Mahathir. — Bernama
