KLANG: A restaurant owner who told off six customers who were unable to pay for their food was bashed up in his restaurant at Bandar Bukit Tinggi here on Sunday.
The 2.50am incident was triggered following a quarrel between the owner and the six customers.
South Klang district police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said upon finishing their meal, one of the customers representing the group told the owner that they were unable to pay for the meal.
"The owner refused to let them off and ordered them to pay for their meal. This angered the six assailants and all of them started to assault the owner who was at the cash register of the restaurant," he told theSun today.
He said the suspects started to hurl helmets and plastic chairs towards him.
"Two of the suspects also started to punch and hit the owner's head. The group then went on and vandalised the restaurant before fleeing," added Shamsul Amar.
The owner suffered light injuries and his nephew subsequently lodged a police report following the incident.
In a follow-up operation, police nabbed a 24-year-old man and two suspects have been identified so far.
"We are still tracing the remaining suspects and we believe some of them have escaped to neighbouring states in the southern part of the country," he added.
Several videos relating to the incident have gone viral on social media.
