Eevom moving into the ride-hailing market

PETALING JAYA: Let's welcome Eevom, the latest ride-hailing service to join the Klang Valley market!
Founded in February last year, Eevom is based in Malaysia and positions itself as another ride-hailing alternative in Klang Valley. The company is looking at expanding its operations to other parts of Malaysia soon.
The service was launched in Klang Valley after a series of tests with a selected group of drivers and passengers since August last year.
With Eevom, riders get to enjoy low prices and great rewards; and drivers get to keep 92% of earnings out of every order. Riders are also able to enjoy flat-rate fare on SPAD registered taxis booked via Eevom.
"We think that if you treat drivers better, passengers will enjoy a better ride. Eevom takes only 8% out of every ride from drivers, and thus allows drivers to keep most of their hard-earned money," said Kenny Koay, Eevom Sdn Bhd executive director.
Eevom – the app is downloadable now for free via App Store or Google Play – connects riders to trained drivers via its mobile app on iOS and Android. Equipped with real-time GPS tracking and upfront pricing that riders have come to expect, the mobile app is also able to handle a maximum of 50,000 bookings per second.
Riders can now easily make advanced or immediate bookings via the app that has a simple and easy-to-navigate interface. Eevom will then instantly match riders with closest drivers. All Eevom drivers come from the upper-tier of Uber (the renowned service which ended its run in Malaysia last month).
Eevom is also launching the "lady Driver, lady passenger" option incorporated into its app.
The option is where a female driver can choose only to pick up female passengers.
Of course, a female passenger can also request for a female driver.
It added that Eevom also offers low prices with many car category options – from economy to luxury – to riders in selected areas within the Klang Valley. For instance, an Eevom economy ride from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Bukit Bintang, Brickfields and Taman Desa only costs RM55.
To further reward riders for riding with Eevom, the company is also giving out RM1,000 worth of Parkson gift vouchers to lucky riders every fortnight (RM200 each for five winners). There are rewards for drivers too.
"Drivers who sign up with Eevom are provided with an opportunity to earn up to RM1,000 on rider referrals. This is not mandatory but up to drivers to take up the offer," said Eevom chief operating officer, Mahendran Sukamaran.
