RM400 special payment for some civil servants, RM200 for pensioners: Dr M

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today announced a special payment of RM400 for civil servants in Grade 41 and below and a RM200 special payment for government pensioners.
"These payments will be made on June 6," he said when making the announcement at a press conference after chairing his second Cabinet meeting at Perdana Putra here.
Dr Mahathir also announced a cost-of-living-allowance (COLA) in place of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) that was given by the previous government.
"Very different, very different," he said when asked for the difference between the COLA and BR1M.
Dr Mahathir also announced that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) would be abolished in Sept this year and replaced with the Sales and Service Tax (SST) then.
GST would be zero-rated with effect from June 1, he said. — Bernama
