Two flood relief centres in SPU district closed

GEORGE TOWN: Two flood relief centres in Seberang Prai Utara (SPU) were closed this morning as flood waters in the area started to recede.
SPU district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the relief centres at Sekolah Agama Labuh Banting and Lubuk Meriam Community Hall were shut down at 9am.
"With the closure, only the Desa Puri relief centre remains open in SPU district, where five victims including a senior citizen are seeking shelter," he said here today.
Trees were uprooted, 90 houses and 13 roads were inundated in several areas in Seberang Prai following strong winds and heavy downpour early Tuesday morning. — Bernama
