Woman badly injured in fall at Gunung Mulu

MIRI: Rescuers have airlifted to a hospital a woman from Sabah who reportedly injured her spine in a fall while climbing Gunung Mulu yesterday.
Several members of the air unit of the Miri Fire and Rescue Service winched Tan Fung Chu, 35, up to a helicopter and flew her to the Miri Hospital at about 8.30am today, said Miri Fire and Rescue Service chief Law Poh Kiong.
He said Tan was badly injured and was unable to move after the fall from Camp 3 at the mountain at about 6pm yesterday.
On March 27, a Briton, Nigel Bevan, died from serious injuries after a fall at Gunung Mulu.
Gunung Mulu is a sandstone and shale mountain that rises to a height of 2,376m above sea level within the boundaries of the Gunung Mulu National Park. — Bernama
