Kedah exco takes 10% pay cut to reduce expenditure

ALOR STAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir today announce that he and his state executive councillors would be taking a 10% pay cut from their basic salary with immediate effect.
Mukhriz said in a statement the decision was taken during the state exco meeting at Wisma Darul Aman early today.
"It is a measure taken by the state government in lessening the expenditure and concern over the state financial situation", he said.
Mukhriz said by taking the pay cut the state leadership is taking the burden and financial liabilities together with the people in the rice bowl state of Malaysia.
The unanimous decision is also in line with the resolution made by federal government as announced by Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad the basic salary of all cabinet minister to be cut by 10%.
