Tabung Harapan donations to be tax-exempted

PETALING JAYA: Donations that are made to the Tabung Harapan Malaysia (THM) fund will be tax exempted, according to DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng (pix).
He said the move was a sign of appreciation to Malaysians who help contribute to the fund in an attempt to reduce the country's RM1 trillion debt.
"Attention, all donations towards THM are tax-exempted.
"The government appreciates your patriotic support. Thank you very much, Malaysia!" the Kepong MP posted on his Facebook account today.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had yesterday announced the setting of THM for the public to donate, in light of revelation that the national debt had surpassed the trillion ringgit mark.
Finance Minister had also said that the fund would be managed systematically and transparently by his ministry.
Contributions can be deposited into Maybank account number 5660-1062-6452 under the name of Tabung Harapan Malaysia.
