PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government should not be called inconsistent as it has only been in power for three weeks since the 14th General Election.
Dr Mahathir, who is also the chairman of the PH coalition, said this when asked about the possibility of the new government being evaluated as inconsistent by foreign investors due to some recent major decisions.
"You can't evaluate us as inconsistent. We want to be consistent and to be a business friendly country (for investors).
"It doesn't matter which countries they are from, whether locals or foreign, they will be treated the same way. If they have any problems, this government will attend to them," he told reporters after PH's Presidential Council meeting, here today.
Dr Mahathir said any decision made by the new government, including ones pertaining to foreign and domestic investment opportunities, would be made according to existing laws.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also said mistakes made by the previous government on contracts or business agreements would be corrected by the present government before proceeding with the deals.
"Mistakes by the old government must be corrected, we cannot continue with the mistake. It will be corrected but we will go according to the contract or agreement given (by the previous government).
"Only when something wrong is done with the contract, we will take action," he added. — Bernama
