Muhyiddin airs disappointment with Yunos and Musa cases

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin expressed disappointment on Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos' disappearance.
"I have ordered the Inspector General of Police (Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun) for the officers in charge of such cases to not be careless. I feel disappointed on how Jamal could escape from the hospital. I regret that happened where there was negligence involved and I cannot let that happen.
"On the disciplinary action on the officers, it will be left to the department's chief decision," he said in a press conference at Petaling Street, here today.
He reiterated his call for Jamal and former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman to surrender themselves immediately.
"We have cooperation with Indonesia's authorities and outside of the country too. It is best for them to surrender themselves immediately.
"The police will take the appropriate action under the law," he added.
Jamal was arrested last week and placed under custody for allegedly displaying a firearm in pictures which went viral on social media.
He was also charged with causing public nuisance in front of the Selangor state secretariat building in Shah Alam last October, where he had smashed crates of beer with a sledgehammer in protest of the proposed Better Beer Festival 2017.
On May 25, he went missing from Ampang Putri Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for a back problem.
After a period of being incommunicado, Jamal promised to appear at the Ampang police headquarters to complete his bail process – but was a no-show.
Instead, he posted a seven-minute video of himself – in what appears to be an oil palm plantation – asking for protection from Muhyiddin.
The police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are seeking Musa to assist in investigations after the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin filed a criminal intimidation report against him, for allegedly canvassing support of Sabah assemblymen following the 14th General Election results.
