PETALING JAYA: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) acting president Datuk Wira Yusoff Mahadi has confirmed that only FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin (pix) has submitted his nomination form for the post of the president of the national football parent body.
He said FAM had distributed nomination forms to the people, the others being former Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa and National Sports Institute (ISN) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi.
"So far we have received only one, from Datuk Hamidin and the other two have not yet done so," he told a press conference after a FAM breaking-of-the-fast with local media here today.
According to him, the two candidates who had yet to submit the forms had asked for some more time before making any decision.
The deadline is June 14.
For the record, Hamidin, who received nominations from 18 affiliates, was taken aback by the last minute nomination of Annuar by the Kuala Lumpur Football Association and Azim from the Pahang Football Association to vie for the FAM President's seat vacated by the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on April 2.
If the two candidates are confirmed to be contesting, it would be a three-cornered fight at the 54th FAM Congress on July 14. — Bernama
