KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) commenced a probe today into Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) following reports lodged against a former Federal Territories minister with the commission with regards to land transactions.
It is learnt that a few MACC officers arrived and raided the Economic Planning and Development Department at the DBKL headquarters along Jalan Raja Laut here at around 2pm and left at 4pm.
A source told theSun that the anti-graft personnel seized eight trolleys full of files from DBKL.
It is understood that MACC officers had loaded a truck with documents linked to the sale of 64 lots of DBKL land to the Federal Territories Foundation (YWP) between 2013 and 2018.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz told theSun that the MACC personnel have been in touch with DBKL for almost a week.
"They (DBKL) have been here from last week and paying daily visits to City Hall. We are cooperating with them," he said.
On May 30, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said MACC had begun investigating DBKL over the land controversy after Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh's lodged a report.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was Federal Territories Minister when the land sales happened.
Lim was previously quoted as saying that the 64 plots of land – believed to be worth RM4.28 billion – were sold to the private sector between 2013 and 2018 without an open tender process.
He said most of the buyers had yet to pay the land premium even though buildings had been constructed and sold, and many had not paid development charges either.
