Man, 22, slashed to death by group with parangs

PETALING JAYA: A 22-year-old man was slashed to death by a group of men armed with machetes near Desa Mentari Apartment here yesterday.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said in the 11.40pm incident, the victim was alone on his motorcycle at a carwash near the apartment, before a group of assailants aged between 18 and 25 arrived.
"The victim, identified as S.Ravindran who suffered multiple slash wounds, was killed at the scene after being set upon by his attackers. He sustained slash wounds on his back, shoulder and arms," added Mohd Zani.
On seeing the attackers whipping out their parangs, Ravindran ran for some 200m away before he was slashed to death.
Police subsequently nabbed two men aged 30 and 45 to facilitate the investigation.
"The investigators also seized two machetes hidden in a vehicle abandoned near the apartment," he added.
The motive of the killing is yet to be ascertained and the case is being investigated for murder.
