The victims were Mat Halimi Ibrahim, 31 who was riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle, and his wife Nik Malini Nik Omar, 31 who was his pillion rider, and their son Mohd Haziq Daniel, a Year Two student at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tempinis.
Besut District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said before the incident, the couple and their son had gone to the Ramadan bazaar in Kampung Tembila about five metres from the accident scene to buy food to break their fast.

"When they reached Kampung Tempinis, a Proton Saga Aeroback car travelling from the opposite direction, driven by Mohd Noor Zakiman Ibrahim, 49, skidded to the right of the road before colliding with their motorcycle," he told reporters here today.
Mohd Zamri said Mat Halimi died at the scene of the accident and his wife died while receiving treatment at the Jabi Health Clinic about 30 minutes later.
"Their son Mohd Haziq Daniel was rushed to the Besut District Hospital after receiving early treatment at the Jabi Health Clinic. However, his condition is stable," Mohd Zamri said.
He said the couple's deaths were caused by broken necks and serious injuries to the ribs and legs. However, the driver of the car who is from Kampung Jabi suffered slight injuries to the head.
