Senior citizen loses life, daughter injured in Pekan accident

PEKAN: A senior citizen lost his life while his daughter was seriously injured when the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle at Km51, Pekan-Nenasi/Rompin road near Kampung Serun here, yesterday.
District police chief Supt Amran Sidek said Ismail Abas, 72, who was driving the car, died at the scene in the 4.15pm incident.
Siti Zuraidah, 31, was brought to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, Kuantan.
"The deceased was said to have been heading home to Sungai Lembing after visiting an in-law in Rompin. He is believed to have lost control of the Perodua Myvi while cornering, and veered into the opposite lane colliding with a Nissan Sentra," Amran told reporters here today.
He said the driver of the other car, Mansor Ibrahim, 57, a school laboratory assistant in Kuantan was also sent to the hospital after sustaining leg injuries. — Bernama
