Van driver dies in 3-vehicle Pitas accident

PITAS: A van driver died while another man sustained serious injuries in an accident involving three vehicles at Kampung Kesagaan near here, yesterday.
Kota Marudu District Police chief Supt Mohd Izaan Abdullah said Muksin Mambong, 40, succumbed to his injuries at Pitas Hospital at 7.55pm.
He said the seriously injured man aged 32 was the driver of a timber truck.
In the incident around 3pm, a woman who was driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle escaped unhurt, he said.
Izaan said initial investigations found that the truck loaded with logs, was heading to Pitas from Kota Marudu when the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane before overturning and colliding with a van which then hit the 4WD.
He said Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue personnel had to extricate the two victims. — Bernama
