PUTRAJAYA: Tabung Harapan Malaysia (THM) today received RM311,000 from 17 car clubs from across the country through the organising of the "Drive To A Greater Malaysia" charity convoy.
The handover of the donation from the event, organised by the Weekend Drive Group (WDG) involving 320 drivers of various types of vehicles, was done by its chairman Datuk Nordin Ahmad at Dataran Masjid Putra, here.
Selangor Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurship Development Committee chairman Amirudin Shari received the donation on behalf of the government.
Speaking to reporters, Nordin said the initiative to help the government to ease the burden of the country's debt problem started on June 1 and managed to raise RM300,000 through the contributions of private individuals and several companies.
Meanwhile, the remaining RM11,000 was collected through the sale of caps, shirts and club souvenirs at the destinations of the convoy, he said.
Among the participating clubs were Malaysia Audi Club, Ranger Truckers Club, Lotus Official Club Malaysia, BMW Club Malaysia, RX8 Society and Hilux Club Malaysia. — Bernama
