3,139 summons issued by S'gor cops for traffic offences

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) have issued 3,139 summonses to road users since Op Selamat 13/2018 kicked off on Friday.
Selangor JSPT chief Superintendent Azman Shari'at said 2,146 people and 1,962 vehicles were screened in 31 operations throughout the state.
He said 565 road accidents were recorded during the first two days of the operation.
Of the total, three were fatal crashes that claimed the lives of two motorcyclists and one lorry driver.
He said the accidents took place in Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Gombak districts.
On Thursday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun launched Ops Selamat 13/2018 in conjunction with Hari Raya.
He said the operation was aimed at preventing break-ins at homes and minimising road accidents during the festive season.
