KOREA'S K-pop band Wanna One is making a one-night-only stop in Kuala Lumpur on July 21 at the Axiata Arena.
The 11 members in the band – Kang Daniel, Park Ji-hoon, Lee Dae-hwi, Kim Jae-hwan, Ong Seong-wu, Park Woo-jin, Lai Kuan-lin, Yoon Ji-sung, Hwang Min-hyun, Bae Jin-young and Ha Sung-woon – will be performing their hit singles such as Energetic and Beautiful for their Malaysian fans.
Wanna One was formed via a reality competition series called Produce 101. Its members were on the second season of the show that was aired on Korean channel Mnet from April to June last year.
Out of an initial 101 trainees representing various agencies that season, the final 11 were chosen via audience votes and announced on the show live.
Prior to Produce 101, some of Wanna One’s members were already well known in Korea.
Most notable among them are former child actor Ji-hoon (from the drama series Kimchi Cheese Smile and The King & I); Min-hyun, who was previously part of another band called NU’EST; Jae-hwan, who took part in the second season of Korea’s Got Talent; and Sung-woon, who was an ex-member of a band called Hotshot.
Since its formation, Wanna One has enjoyed massive success, becoming the first K-pop group to have ever sold over a million copies of its debut album, 1x1=1 (To be One), and the repackaged 1-1=0 (Nothing Without You), released last year.
Its second album, 0+1=1 (I Promise You), was released on March 19.
Besides Kuala Lumpur, Wanna One will be taking its show through the US cities of San José, Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta, as well as to Singapore, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Melbourne.
The second wave of tickets for the Wanna One World Tour in Kuala Lumpur, presented by YJ Partners, will go on sale on June 20 at the MyTicket Asia website.
