Youth sent to Henry Gurney School for robbing store

KUALA LUMPUR: A youth was sent to the Henry Gurney School in Malacca today after he pleaded guilty to robbing a convenience store.
Judge Mahyon Talib ordered Zarulfikri Zulkiflee, 20, to remain at the reform school until he attains the legal age of 21.
His friend, a juvenile of 16-years-old, was ordered to do 60 hours of community service within six months with a bail of RM3,000 in one surety.
The duo had robbed Ummi Hani Kamaruddin, 17, of a metal container which had RM252.55, six boxes of a cigar, a pack of playing cards, two packs of Strepsils lozenges and two packets of Mentos sweets.
They committed the crime at a 24-hour convenience store at Jalan 1/148J, Seri Petaling, Brickfields on April 23 at about 3am.
They were charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years jail and whipping, upon conviction.
The prosecution was handled by N. Joy Jothy while the two accused were not represented.
