Two men charged with bringing belt buckle knives into KL Court

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were charged separately in the sessions court here today for bringing knives hidden in their belt buckles into the Kuala Lumpur Court complex in May.
Mohamad Habib Abdul Jabar, 52, and Jamalhayat Ahmad Sani, 29, claimed trial for bringing 16.5cm knives hidden in their belt buckles to the parking space of the Kuala Lumpur Court complex on May 22, 2018 at 1.15pm.
The duo pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them in front of Judge Dr Gan Chee Keong.
The knives were categorised as a dangerous weapon and they were charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, which provides for a prison term of not less than 5 years and a maximum of 10 years, if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor N. Joy Jothy did not offer bail, the two men were not represented.
The court set mention on June 25 for Mohamad Habib and July 10 for Jamalhayat.
