PUTRAJAYA: In a Hari-Raya video posted on Facebook, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured the people that he will continue to fight for the reform agenda, following his release from prison.
In the video, Anwar is seen with his wife Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and their daughter Nurul Nuha, where he speaks about his plans and intention for the future.
"Let us rest first, papa," Nurul Nuha says to her father in the nearly three-minute clip.
In response, Anwar said that he has rested long enough in prison and it is time for them to continue working as the people are waiting.
"The people have entrusted us with a task, and if we do not execute it, their support would have been in vain.
"If we think of our comfort, then it would be the same as the old regime," he added.
The objective of reducing the people's burden and to make democracy in Malaysia more meaningful were among the things he stressed in the video which has since gone viral with over 600 shares since its release, yesterday.
He added that failure to address the needs of the rakyat would not give any meaning apart from his freedom and a new government.
"We have to continue just a little more. Insyallah, may Allah bless this," he added.
Wan Azizah then interjects, stating that things will be tougher following Pakatan Harapan's victory in the general election.
"We must fulfil all our promises. Why? Because we want to make our victory meaningful, and with the people's support we can make it happen," she says.
The trio then share a hug before the video ends with Hari Raya Aidilfitri wishes from Anwar's entire family.
