GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan will continue to serve the people despite being dealt a major blow in the 14th general election (GE14), said its vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong.
He told theSun, that despite not winning any seats in GE14, the party would not backtrack on its commitment to serving the people.
Oh said Penang which was formerly the party's strong base during the tenure of former Chief Minister Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu and Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon will continue to be the pulse of the party.
He also brushed off rumours that the party's headquarters will cease to operate after its poor showing at the polls.
"Of course, our headquarters in Jalan Macalister will still be operating as usual, There's no doubt about it, "he said.
Oh, however, said other service centres or known as machinery centres which were opened prior the election will be shut down.
This comes after MCA had announced that its centres nationwide will be shut down due to a lack of funds following the defeat of the Barisan Nasional federal government.
MCA only won one parliamentary seat in Ayer Hitam, Johor, through its deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
