Suspect held after CCTV clip of armed robbery goes viral (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a man at a low-cost apartment in Taman Wahyu here over a robbery that was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera.
The whole robbery was captured on CCTV and the clip has since been uploaded onto the Facebook account titled Koleksi Video Viral, drawing over 3,800 shares at press time.
The video and screen-grab of the incident showed three men robbing a security guard at his post near Kepong Baru secondary school along Jalan Kepong Baru here on Saturday.
Sentul district police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the robbers arrived the scene on three motorcycles in the 3.25am incident.
"They can be seen driving past the boom gate under the guard's watch. The were four robbers. Two of them were armed with machetes. The armed duo whipped out their machetes and threatened the victim.
"The victim was terrified and attempted to hand over his belongings. However, the suspects were violent. Two of them frisked the guard while holding machetes, emptying his pockets, and even forcing the victim's shoes off his feet while another grabbed some items from the guard post before escaping with their motorbikes," he said yesterday.
Munusamy added that the victim was unharmed as he offered no resistance.
The victim lodged a police report following the incident and police subsequently initiated and operation condenamed Ops Cantas and detained a 32-year-old man at an apartment here at 12.15pm today.
Police also recovered clothes, motorbikes, and helmets believed to be linked with the guard post-robbery.
Efforts to track down the remaining suspects are ongoing.
