Full cabinet line-up end of this week?

PUTRAJAYA: The full cabinet list will likely be announced by end of this week, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Wan Azizah told reporters she posed the question of when the full cabinet line-up will be announced to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today.
"PM told me that the list will probably take some time but my best guess is that it will be ready by end of this week," Wan Azizah said during a joint press conference with Japan's ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa after the latter's courtesy visit to her office in Bangunan Perdana Putra today.
However, the Women, Family and Community Development Minister stressed that the shortlisting of candidates and announcement of the full Cabinet is solely the prime minister's prerogative.
On the courtesy visit, Wan Azizah said both she and Miyagawa had a fruitful discussion and that Japan has expressed its willingness to share its expertise in disaster management with Malaysia.
She pointed out that Japan has a lot of experience in managing disasters and this is one area the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) would greatly benefit in.
"Nadma could learn from the training and the sharing of know-how in a number of areas, such as early warning technologies that help to predict and prepare for disasters as well as advanced planning on how to deal with major disasters," she said.
Wan Azizah added that Malaysia would also be seeking support and assistance from Japan on the issue of ageing population and women leadership development as well as Japan's social protection policies.
Asked on Mahathir's request for yen credit from Japan in the form of a soft loan, Miyagawa said Japanese bankers are fairly positive towards it even though there has yet been any clear-cut response from them.
"I have met some of the banking institution presidents in Japan after Mahathir left and the response I got is fairly positive.
"Although they have yet to give a firm response towards the request, our prime minister, however, has sent us a very clear-cut note that both the government and private sector should consider it," Miyagawa said when asked on the updates on Mahathir's request during his three-day working visit to Japan last week.
