Former Terengganu exco's son killed in accident

KUALA TERENGGANU: The youngest son of former state executive councillor Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafie, Muhammad Izzat Husaini, 17, was killed in an accident involving two vehicles at Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin, here, today.
It is understood that 5pm accident occurred when Muhammad Izzat Husaini who was riding a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Proton Persona car driven by a woman.
Mohd Jidin, former Permaisuri assemblyman, when met at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital's Forensic Department said his youngest son succumbed to his injuries while receiving an emergency treatment.
"My son Izzat went out at 2pm to celebrate Aidilfitri at his friend's house in Chendering and the accident occurred when he was on the way home at 5pm," Mohd Jidin said, adding that he accepted his youngest child's death on the fourth day of Aidilfitri as fated.
The remains of Muhammad Izzat Husaini, who was also a student of the Wakaf Tembesu Vocational College, were buried at the Sheikh Ibrahim Cemetery, Ladang, here, after the Isyak prayers this evening.
State Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief, Superintendent Abd Razak Hasan confirmed the incident and said the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
