Representatives for North and South Korea have agreed to the formation of a joint team for the upcoming Asian Games, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reports.
The agreement, which came after a meeting in the border town of Panmunjon, continues the sporting cooperation between the two countries after North Korea's participation in the South Korean-hosted 2018 Winter Olympics.
The combined "Korea" team will march together under a unified flag for the opening ceremony - a repeat of the same gesture from the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
The Asian Games take place in Indonesia this August, with the unified team set to be used for certain sports at the event.
"We will try to materialize the spirit and principles agreed between high-level officials of South and North Korea with the belief that sports can act as a guide for better inter-Korean exchanges," said Jeon Choong-ryul, secretary general of the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee, to reporters in Seoul.
Cooperation in sport is part of the agreements made by North and South Korea after a summit between the leaders of the two countries in late April.
