Acer has captured the d&i gold award at Computex 2018, a collaboration between iF Design of Germany and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), attaining a total of four awards. The brand also received three Computex Best Choice Awards from the Taipei Computer Association (TCA) for IoT, gaming and mobile communications.
The Computex d&i (design and innovation) award winners were selected by a panel of judges comprising international experts and field specialists and professionals, upon assessing 212 entries from 10 countries. Of the winning entries, only three products were given recognition with the coveted Computex d&i gold award 2018, and the Acer Chromebook 11 was one of them.
Designed for the education industry, the rugged and durable Acer Chromebook 11 can handle most “bumps and spills” and includes optional 4G LTE for connectivity and access to data on-the-go. Features of the Chromebook such as reinforced case and hinges, and corner-shield structure and rubber bumper keyboard, give better damage protection. Moreover, the anti-slip pattern on the rear case gives it better grip and helps prevent it from slipping out of students’ hands.
The Acer Chromebox, Acer Swift 7 and Acer Switch 7 Black Edition were other models among the Computex d&I award winners.
The incredibly small and versatile Chromebox is a great choice for desktop use especially in computer labs and libraries. It sports a dual antenna that provides a quicker, more reliable wireless connection for a smoother internet experience. The new Acer Swift 7 is also the world’s thinnest laptop at 8.98mm while the Acer Switch 7 Black Edition is recognised as the world’s first fanless two-in-one notebook using Acer’s innovative Dual LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology.
Meanwhile, the Computex Best Choice Awards went to the Acer Air Monitor, Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset and Acer Leap Beads.
The Acer Air Monitor is designed to help keep tabs on indoor air quality by allowing real-time monitoring of key air quality indicators through a dedicated smartphone app. Voice command activation (using Amazon Alexa) allows users to ask questions about indoor air quality.
The Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset allows customers to interact using “gesture, gaze and voice” while using the gadget. The bundled Acer motion controllers use Bluetooth wireless technology, so gamers can engage and interact in the “digital world”.
The Acer Leap Beads are smart prayer beads that help practising Buddhists count the number of times they have chanted their mantra. A chip tracks how often the “mala” has been rotated through their hands so they focus. The Leap Beads are also a health-tracking device that monitors sleep and counts calories, creating a brand new user experience never seen before.
These award-winning products were showcased at Computex 2018, which took place between June 5 and 9. Visit the Acer website for more information.
