KUALA LUMPUR: Police should investigate the role played by DSP Musa Safri, a former aide de camp of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who was not called to give evidence in the case involving the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, said lawyer Ramkarpal Singh.
Ramkarpal said this before accompanying Altantuya's father, Setev Shaariibuu, to lodge a police report at Dang Wangi district police headquarters here.
"Lodging a formal police report today is like a jumpstart to re-open the case.
"DSP Musa has always been a very crucial witness in this case. It is something that police must take into account, why the prosecution did not call him in the past," he told reporters before entering the district police headquarters.
Ramkarpal who is acting as counsel for Altantuya's father described Musa as playing a very significant role in this case and said he must be called in to give a statement.
"Of course it's very unusual and that's why we are complaining because this should not have happened in the first place (Musa not being part of the investigation)," he added.
He said Musa is one of the persons that will be mentioned in the report and in the statement which is to be given by Setev.
