PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has agreed to reopen the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case provided credible evidence is available and the rule of law is abided, said lawyer Ramkarpal Singh.
Speaking to reporters following the 30-minute meeting with the Prime Minister, Ramkarpal said Mahathir was briefed on the details of the case and interacted with Altantuya's father Setev.
"The prime minister insisted that the case must follow the rule of law and that credible evidence including new leads must be presented to the Attorney-General before proceeding further," he said at the entrance of Putra Perdana building, here, today.

Along with Ramkarpal and Setev, also present during the meeting was Setev's translator Tugsbayar and a representative from Mongolian consulate.
With the lodging of the police report, today and meeting Attorney-General Tommy Thomas, yesterday, Ramkarpal hopes to see the case reopened with a period of three to six months' time.
Setev expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, describing the encounter and conversation with Mahathir as one between a "father to father".
"I am satisfied and happy with the meeting.
"I have hope that justice for my daughter will be attained," he said.
