FANCY getting a driving licence without the hassle of registering with a driving school and taking the driving test? Questions of legality aside, the so-called genuine driving licence does not come cheap on the black market.
According to a report in China Press today, a syndicate is selling them online from RM350 to RM2,900 each, depending on the class of licence.
According to information provided by the syndicate on social media, buyers can obtain the "100% original JPJ" driving licence within four days of submitting personal particulars, photos and paying up.
The syndicate states that the licences it is selling are as genuine as "the licence holders' particulars are kept in the JPJ's databank": meaning these licences can be renewed, even at post offices, without any problem.
However, the prices listed for these licences are two to three times more expensive than getting them the proper way.
For example, the black market Class B2 (for motorcycles not larger than 250cc) licence is sold at RM990, compared with just RM350 (including fees for registration and tests) via the legal method.
The price quoted for Class D (vehicles not heaver than 3,500kg) is RM1,990, compared with RM1,150 through a driving school.
For those who want to have Classes B + D on their licences, the price is a hefty RM2,900, compared with just RM1,250 via a driving school.
