ALOR STAR: A Myanmar motorist who made a U-turn in his car to avoid a police roadblock, ended up ramming a police motorcyclist who had earlier ordered him to stop in Jalan Sultanah Bahiyah here yesterday.
At the time, the foreigner in a Proton Saga was driving against the traffic flow when the 4 pm incident occurred.
The police seized heroin-type drugs from the 35-year-old suspect who was unaware that he had driven right smack into an ongoing police operation dubbed 'Op Selamat 13'.
Kedah Traffic Investigation and Enforcement deputy chief, DSP Hussin Zamora said Myanmar had sped towards Jalan Gangsa before stopping the car and fleeing into a supermarket.
"The suspect acted aggressively and put up a struggle when the police attempted to arrest him and on searching him, found a cigarette box containing two transparent plastic packets of various sizes and a white straw tube of heroin-type drugs weighing 3.88 grammes.
"The same type of drugs weighing 327.10 grammes, were also found in his car," he said in a statement here today.
Meanwhile, the volunteer policeman who was injured in the incident sustained a broken right wrist and was treated at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here. — Bernama
