Trader charged with punching neighbour at Ramadan bazaar

PETALING JAYA: A trader was charged in the magistrate's court here today for punching his neighbour's face at a Ramadan bazaar last week.
Syamiluddin Amatakin, 25, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham.
He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code with causing hurt on Haslinda Abd. Majid, 31, in front of Sekolah Rendah Agama Taman Medan here at 7.30 pm last June 12 and faced an imprisonment for up to a year and fine of up to RM2,000 or both, if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Natasha Chin Le Jy, who prosecuted, offered bail at RM4,000, but Syamiluddin, who was unrepresented, requested for a lower bail as he was supporting his parents.
Following which, the court set bail at RM2,500 in one surety and also ordered Syamiluddin to not intimidate the witnesses.
The court set July 30 for mention. — Bernama
