Argentina coach Sampaoli will remain with team, federation confirms

Bronnitsy, Russia (dpa) - Jorge Sampaoli will remain on as coach of the Argentina national team at the World Cup despite apparent differnces between him and the team, the federation confirmed to dpa Saturday. The federation said the 58-year-old Sampaoli will definitely coach Argentina for their decisive final Group D match on Tuesday against Nigeria in St Petersburg.
A report by the station TyCSports said Sampaoli had temporarily been ousted from his post. Federation boss Claudio Tapia reportedly had an emergency meeting with the team and then told the coach he would be not make any more decisions in Russia. On Saturday though Tapia changed his mind, according to the report. But the relationship between Sampaoli, who took over the post a year ago, and the team is in shambles, TyCSports said.
