Moscow (dpa) - Peru forward Jefferson Farfan was hospitalized on Saturday after being knocked unconscious in a training ground clash at the World Cup. Peru trained in the Arena Khimki on the outskirts of Moscow and Farfan went down after a clash of heads with a team-mate Under-20 goalkeeper Jeremy Aguirre.
He was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital. He subsequently regained consciousness and is in stable condition, according to Peruvian media. The forward will stay in hospital while tests are carried out. Peru, who cannot progress to the last 16 after losing their first two games, play Australia in their final Group C match on Tuesday.
Team doctor Julio Segura is with Farfan in hospital. The player is also accompanied by Peru coach Ricardo Gareca, Peru Football Federation director Juan Carlos Oblitas and fitness coach Nestor Bonillo.
