Volgograd, Russia (dpa) - Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel is expected to play in his country's World Cup game against Argentina despite fracturing a bone in his hand, coach Gernot Rohr said. Mikel suffered the injury in stoppage time in the 2-0 win over Iceland in Volgograd on Friday.
However the 31-year-old midfielder could play wearing a cast, Rohr said in a video released by the Nigerian football federation on Sunday. Victory over Argentina in St Petersburg on Tuesday will put the Super Eagles into the last 16 and send the two-time world champions out.
