IPOH: Perak Amanah Youth is reminding Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties not to give opportunities and space to Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders who quit the party to join PH.
Perak Parti Amanah Youth Communication director Muhammad Faeez Azahar said the inclusion and support of former BN leaders to the PH government was being met positively by the people because they seemed to have vested interests and agendas.
"The situation is different from the bold action of the Umno and BN leaders who quit the party before the 14th General Election and fought alongside Pakatan Harapan leaders which resulted in its victory," he said in a statement here, today.
Commenting on the action by Bagan Serai Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali who announced his exit from Umno and BN today in support of PH, Muhammad Faeez said it aroused suspicion and smacked of a hidden political agenda and was not in the interests of the people and the country.
"Today Dr Noor Azmi leaves Umno and declared himself to be an independent representative and also expressed his desire to join Pakatan Harapan in the near future.
"The Perak Amanah Youth has received the news with scepticism because all are well aware of his stand, his statements and actions prior to this did not reflect that he was a leader who understood the pulse of the people," he added.
Meanwhile, Perak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Information chief Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail, in a statement issued here, regarded Nor Azmi’s decision in leaving Umno and BN as a last resort for his political survival.
As such, she said, the Perak PKR should hold strong to its principles that the party welcome those who support the party, but it would not guarantee their acceptance into PH.
“To Yang Berhormat (YB) Azmi, this should be a time for him to do some soul-searching and to apologise to the people for his previous action in supporting and upholding the (previous) BN and Umno government,” she added. — Bernama
