KUALA LUMPUR: A police corporal who allegedly opened fire with his service pistol at a karaoke lounge at the Brem Mall, Kepong, following a fight between his friends and another group was arrested by a police team on Sunday.
It is learnt that the 36-year-old corporal who is attached to the Gombak district police headquarters had gone on an outing to the karaoke centre with five friends at about 6am on Sunday.
The men were drinking and chatting at the place when four men walked into their room about two hours later before setting upon one of the corporal's friends.
The corporal tried to break up the fight but was pushed away by the attackers.
He then whipped out his pistol and fired five gunshots at the wall of the room, sending the attackers scurrying for safety before one of them lodged a police report.
A police team from the Kuala Lumpur CID's serious crimes division managed to trace the policeman before nabbing him and seizing his service pistol and 25 rounds of ammunition.
It is learnt that the policeman was remanded for further investigations today.
