SEBERANG JAYA: Thousands thronged SP Arena for the Penang state government's Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house today. Many were seen wearing their baju raya outfits, coming along with their families from as early 10am.
Penang Governor Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and his consort Toh Puan Majimor Shariff arrived at about 11.45 am at the arena accompanied by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Also present were Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy, Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin and other state exco members.
Chow, during his opening speech, said the various ethnic groups in the state was not an impediment stopping the people in Penang from living in harmony.
Apart from the delicious menu, guests were also treated to traditional dance performances and also Hari Raya songs sung by invited singers during the event.
