PETALING JAYA: Two disgruntled airline operators which were penalised by the Malaysian Aviation commission (Mavcom), have called for the abolishment of the commission.
Eaglexpress Air Charter Sdn Bhd President Captain Azlan Zainal Abidin and Suasa Airlines Sdn Bhd's managing director Captain Sheikh Salleh Abod jointly called for the commission to be abolished and its duties taken over by the Department of Civil Aviation, which they said were helming the responsibilities "efficiently" prior to the establishment Mavcom.
Eaglexpress saw its Air Service Permit (ASP) revoked by Mavcom in December 2016 for failing to comply with certain conditions within the stipulated time frame, while Suasa Airlines' was fined RM380,000 for operating a flight without a valid air service permit. Suasa Airlines had plead guilty to the charge.
Meanwhile, Azlan said Eaglexpress is working to start a new airline and currently in talks with foreign investors to again serve the hajj and umrah segment.
