Zulkifli begins duties as new Chief of Defence Forces

KUALA LUMPUR: Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin (pix) began his official duties as Chief of Defence Forces at Wisma Pertahanan, Jalan Padang Tembak here today.
Zulkifli, 59, took over from Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, who went on mandatory retirement.
His arrival this morning was welcomed by a guard-of-honour mounted by the 1st Battalion Royal Malay Regiment led by Major Ahmad Safuan Jaafar before entering his office on the fifth floor.
Also present were secretary-general of the Defence Ministry Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi, Chief of Army Gen Tan Sri Zulkiple Kassim, Chief of Navy Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin and Chief of Air Force Gen Tan Sri Affendi Buang.
Zulkifli had served as the Chief of Army in 2011 before being appointed the Vice-Chancellor of the National Defence University of Malaysia in 2013. — Bernama
